Why are x-ray exams performed?

X-rays are performed to diagnose and monitor various health conditions. They offer clear images of body tissues and bones and are usually the first step in medical care to detect and treat numerous health conditions.

How do I prepare for an x-ray exam?

During an x-ray you may be asked to remove any metal objects from your clothing or body. Inform your x-ray technologist if you have any metal implants or medical devices.

What are the benefits and risks of an x-ray exam?

X-ray exams are quick and painless. Our technologists will communicate with you throughout the exam to ensure your comfort. There is minimal risk with an x-ray exam but do inform your technologist if you are pregnant or have metal implants and/or medical devices.

Do I need to make an appointment for an x-ray exam?

At Tolland Imaging Center we have walk-in availability for x-rays Monday through Friday and offer x-ray exams on Saturdays by appointment only. Call 860-896-4848 with any questions regarding scheduling or walking in for an x-ray.

How long does an x-ray exam usually take?

X-ray exams are generally very quick and take only a few minutes to complete, with minimal discomfort. For the best image quality, it is important to stay still during your exam.
